THE UPRISE OF CANNABIDIOL

In a time when opiates are being over-prescribed and 91 Americans are dying each day from drug overdoses; to which the president has had to announce it as a national emergency. More and more individuals are doing what they can to research alternative ways of dealing with chronic conditions such as pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and so on. Turning to services such as massage therapy, chiropractic, essential oils, functional medicine, and medical marijuana.

Medical marijuana has really seen its popularity grow over the past few years, especially now that 29 states have legalized it and seen its value. But for those who have ethical differences but still want to benefit from marijuana, CBD oil works out just perfectly. CBD oil or Cannabidiol, has been legalized and approved by all 50 states as long as the THC levels stay under .3%. THC is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana that gives a person the experience of being “high” per say. The reason CBD oil has been regulated to even allow the .3% of THC into its products is because of the synergistic effect it all has when it is all combined together. Although, there is plenty of research going around right now for the benefits of CBD oil with no THC values, the effects aren’t as strong and beneficial. And at .3%, drugs tests would show up negative for drug use.

So how does it work?

CBD is truly a catalyst to optimal health given at the appropriate dosage. Our bodies are filled with cells that have receptors for cannabidiol. And not until the late 80’s did researchers discover this entire endo-cannabinoid system in the body and its ability to regulate a cascade of homeostasis. Where pharmaceutical drugs work at the level of the symptoms (often times making the condition worse), CBD works at the level of the system. It helps modulate the signal molecules that naturally reduce inflammation in our bodies. This is important because inflammation is really the backbone of most of the conditions and disease we experience now and days. Rheumatoid arthritis- inflammation of the joints. Crohns disease and Ulcerative Colitis-inflammation of the intestines. These are just a few examples but when we think of inflammation you should consider it as another stressor to our body. And most don’t realize the inflammation in our brains which lead to ADHD, Autism, Insomnia, and even Alzheimers. So CBD works with our signaling molecules such as our neurotransmitters that run our nervous system, hormones that run our endocrine system, and cytokines that run our immune system to promote detoxification and help restore homeostasis.

So in a time where everything around us is so inflammatory and toxic to our bodies, alternative medicine is on the uprise for recovery. Consult with one of our health care providers to see how your health could benefit from CBD oil.
