It’s that time of year again, “New Year, New You”. We all want to strive in our health at one point or another. Years end is when we all get into the trend of the New Year’s resolutions. Most last the first few weeks before getting complacent. So why do so many people fall off track every year? Here are some typical reasons:
- Unrealistic Goals
- Lack of Preparation (Lifestyle shock)
- Distractions
- Improper Planning (Time)
- End Goal is Unclear
Our health is too important to throw in the towel every year. As it is, it gets harder to deal with our health as we age. Start off on the right foot and use some time management to ensure you get the proper exercise time or diet (Meal prep/ supplies). Mental preparation is something we have to be ready for. If you are used to indulging in a bad diet or just flat out don’t get up and move your body enough, the change will seem too drastic. Research and read into what you need to do, so that you know what to expect. Distractions are a part of life; BBQ’s, parties, events and so on. Allow yourself time to get in a workout or eat something healthy beforehand so that you are not as tempted. You have to plan, chunk up the goal so that it does not seem so far away. Set a clear defined goal, one that has an overall balance of exercise, diet, and rest.
