Sarah Perales, MSN, RN, FNP-C
Sarah Perales was raised in La Vernia, Texas. From a young age, she aspired to become a nurse and have the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. After she graduated from high school she went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
She spent the next four years of her nursing career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio caring for children with acute and chronic disease. She then continued her nursing career as a school nurse for San Antonio Independent School District. It was here that she witnessed a great need for quality healthcare and learned the importance of a positive provider-patient relationship.
This motivated Sarah to pursue a career as a Nurse Practitioner, for which she received her Master of Science in Nursing, graduating from The University of Texas at Arlington College of Nursing and Health Innovation in May of 2020.
Sarah is committed to staying up-to-date on the latest research and is a member of multiple professional organizations, including San Antonio Nurses in Advanced Practice, Texas Nurse Practitioners, and American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
She is a believer of our approach to healthcare here at the Institute for Functional Health and integrates all of her experience into how she cares for our patients.
Throughout her education, Sarah learned from many volunteer opportunities in which she helped screen the San Antonio community for common chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. She enjoyed the role of educating patients on disease processes and management, prevention, and health promotion.
Sarah and her husband Eloy have been married since 2013, they have 3 beautiful and entertaining children and 2 dogs, who keep them busy in their free time. Much of their time outside of work is spent with family, going to baseball practices and games, enjoying the attractions of San Antonio, or having a movie night at home.
