You’ve Finally Found A Safe Alternative to Medications

Neurostimulation Therapy for Pain Management

“I thought pain management would always mean drugs with side effects.”

Many of our patients share this same sentiment when they first come to the Institute for Functional Health. They are ALL looking for a safe, more natural approach to relieving their symptoms. At IFFHealth, we are committed to investing in the most cutting-edge therapies that keep patients living naturally – without the side effects of medications.

Neurostimulation therapy has received an overwhelmingly positive response by the medical community over the past few years. In fact, patients have responded so well to the therapy that the FDA has approved it, and Medicare now covers the cost of the therapy for those who would benefit from the procedure.

This truly is a testament to its effectiveness . . . even powerful drug lobbyists can’t suppress the acceptance of this therapy as a therapeutically-effective and cost-effective solution for people who have suffered in pain for far too long.

In fact, neurostimulation therapy is even being used to help ween patients off of addictive pain killers that have dangerous side effects – sometimes side effects with worse symptoms than the pain itself.

If you suffer from any of the pains below, you may be a great candidate for neurostimulation therapy. We accept most major health insurances and Medicare.

How Does Neurostimulation Work?

In short, a small device sends an electrical current through sensory points in the ear that associate with nerve endings in other part parts of the body. The result: your brain receives mixed signals from the nerves thus reducing the sensation of pain. Again, safely and effectively.

Common Questions

Is Neurostimulation Therapy a new treatment?

No. This therapy has been around for decades. Created by a physician that recognized and researched the efficacy of the therapy. Thankfully, it is now available for us to apply to patients who present with pain and who we believe to be an ideal candidate.

Is the treatment painful?

Most patients experience no pain at all in the application of the neurostimulation.

How long does the treatment take?

Every case is different, but many patients report a gradual decrease in pain over 2 to 3 days. Your brain is processing pain signals in a different way due to the electrical currents, so it may take up to two weeks to take full effect.

The actual application of the device only takes about 10 minutes in the office and if we can verify your insurance benefits during your exam, we are often able to apply the device on the same visit.

What does it cost? Does insurance cover this?

At IFFH we verify all of your benefits through private health insurance and Medicare prior to adminstering any therapies. We want you to know exactly what your out-of-pocket costs will be, if any. Our staff performs this insurance verification during you complimentary examination.

Every patient begins their journey at the Institute with a complimentary examination. During this visit we will assess your current state and gather any imaging (X-rays or MRI) that you already have. If needed, we will also order current imaging. Of course, we will work with you to find an imaging center that handles your insurance.

Our team will draw up a treatment plan based on how you present. Amazingly, we are often able to administer the neurostimulation device on the same visit as your in-person evaluation. It truly is that simple of an application.

So that is our commitment – you will pay nothing until you know the full cost of your customized Neurostimulation Therapy Program.

Why choose the Institute for Functional Health?

The answer is simple: Nowhere else will you find the same totality of care for your entire health and well-being. As an integrated practice under the medical supervision, we have the ability to provide medical care to our patients when required . . . but our first course of action is to assess your current state through the lens of functional wellness. That means we get to the root cause of your symptoms!

This means we don’t apply a Bandaid to one sympton, to then cause a cascade of side effects and symptoms across the rest of your body. Our goal is not to “prescribe relief”, but rather to thoroughly investigate your health and determine the root cause of your pain.

If we can help you to identify what it is that led to the problem, then you can hopefully avoid a reocurrence of symptoms years down the road.

Even if you first visit us at the Institute for Functional Health for neurostimulation therapy, we are confident that you will continue your healthful journey with us as the place where San Antonio comes to – Get Well & Stay Well!
